Dry Summer (1963)

"Water is the earth's blood, you can't cut it off."

Directed by: Metin Erksan
Cinematography by: Ali Ugur
Country: Turkey
Genre: Drama

Plot:
Two brothers get into some water wars with local farmers when the greedy elder sibling dams up the natural spring on their property.

Reasons to watch:
The music rips, the social commentary hits, the cinematography is crisp, the melodrama is succulent, and Erol Tas commands the screen as the wolfish and wrathful older brother, Osman, one of the most irredeemable characters I’ve seen in a while - really nearing that Ramsay Bolton tier.

Where to watch:
The Criterion Channel
