Eros + Massacre (1969)
Directed by: Yoshishige Yoshida
Cinematography by: Motokichi Hasegawa
Country: Japan
Plot:
Interweaving tales of a pair of students who do weird things and love fire, and a polygamist anarchist and his failures at polygamy and anarchy.
Reasons to watch:
It’s a lengthy, self-indulgent experimental film in the vein of Godard, so while the story and performances become grating - though not without a fair share of compelling and self-examining leftist ideology - it’s filled to the brim with exceptional style and stunning images.
Where to watch:
Tubi/ARROW
