Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
.jpg)
"We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams."
Directed by: Mel Stuart
Cinematography by: Arthur Ibbetson
Country: United States
Plot:
Roald Dahl adapted his own children’s book for this musical fantasy in which five lucky kids get to tour Willy Wonka’s mythic chocolate factory - and the naughtiest of the bunch get offed one-by-one like a zany candy-coated slasher.
Reasons to watch:
I watched this on 4/20 and I think the movie got me higher than the drugs did. Eccentric, ridiculous, clever, imaginative (just glowingly pro-imagination), and way funnier - and more imperfect - than I remember from my childhood. So many core memories unlocked.
