Spider (2002)

"Clothes maketh the man. And the less there is of the man, the more the need for clothes."
Directed by: David Cronenberg
Cinematography by: Peter Suschitzky
Country: Canada/United Kingdom
Plot:
Based on the 1990 novel by Patrick McGrath, a schizophrenic man recently released from a 20-year stay at an asylum disentangles his past at a halfway house near his childhood home.
Reasons to watch:
Though it's a bit disappointing to see Cronenberg head a film that falls into the typical played-out trope of people with schizophrenia being inherently dangerous to others all the way in 2002, his artful direction and the wandering, atonal keys of Howard Shore's paranoid score generate a deeply uneasy atmosphere in this taut psychological thriller.
