Now, Voyager (1942)

"Take part, contribute. Be interested in everything... and everybody."
Directed by: Irving Rapper
Cinematography by: Sol Polito
Country: United States
Plot:
A deeply repressed, depressed woman, worn down by her tyrannical mother, gets treatment at a mental health clinic and, with her new sense of self-worth after she's released, treats herself to a cruise where the stars align and she falls in love with a kind man.
Reasons to watch:
There's no overt message about mental health, but this film makes a decidedly convincing case about getting therapy, as the protagonist Charlotte Vale (played by the unforgettable Bette Davis) has one of the most immaculate glow-ups to ever grace the silver screen - and it's all because she took the time and effort to get her head right. Not sure how this enchanting little melodrama didn't single-handedly de-stigmatize therapy and long-term psychiatric care.
