"The thing is, I don't know what was before or after. I don't know what happened first. And it's kinda laid a mindfuck on me."
Directed and filmed by: David Lynch
Country: France/Poland/United States
Plot:
An actress gets a role in a cursed film and the lines between reality, dream, and fiction disappear.
Reasons to watch:
Lynch is no stranger to brain-melting postmodern aberrations, but this is radically untethered, like being sucked into a psycho-surrealist funhouse in the midst of a dream within a dream within the metaphysical abyss of mass consciousness. Clocking in at nearly 3 hours, it’s a great flick if you want to feel like you just took ten shots in a row and were forced to drunkenly navigate the labyrinthine depths of someone else’s psyche with a bunch of equally shitfaced strangers speaking gibberish. It’s confusion and confrontational sensory overloads to the point of nausea. It’s pretty good.
