On purge bébé (1931)

"So the porcelain maker's wife can be just as wrong as the porcelain maker!"

Directed by: Jean Renoir
Cinematography by: Theodor Sparkuhl
Country: France
Genre: Comedy

Plot:
A man trying to sell his chamber pot design to a big client has his sales pitch interrupted by his wife concerned about their constipated son. Based on the 1910 play by Georges Feydeau.

Reasons to watch:
Constipation, laxatives, diarrhea, chamber pots, and "slop buckets." I have even more adoration and respect for cinema legend Jean Renoir after finding out his first sound film was an endlessly potty-humored farce about shitting. A funny little novelty of early sound cinema with amusingly eccentric performances.

Where to watch:
The Criterion Channel
