Plot:
A young girl with telekinetic abilities and a link to the outer gods must escape the facility keeping her captive before the superhuman zealot who runs the place fulfills his plans for her.

This slow-burning psychedelic neon-warped cosmic synth-horror nightmare - full of retro Cronenbergian weirdo futurism involving secret cultlike scientific societies desperate to achieve transhuman ascension - marked the quietly impactful debut of one of contemporary horror's most imaginative, meticulous, and innately visually minded directors, Panos Cosmatos. Beyond the Black Rainbow is as vibey as it is anxiety-inducing, swirling in an otherwordly elixir of gauzy expressionistic design, dense surrealism, ethereal lore, strikingly inventive film grammar, and endless visual ideas.
