Plot:
An anthology of nine animated short films based on the original Matrix trilogy.
Reasons to watch:
It's cool as fuck. It's no secret that East Asian martial arts and anime films were a major influence on The Matrix franchise, and it was an incredibly baller move of the Wachowskis to give back to the genres and creators that inspired them, handing the keys of their groundbreaking trilogy over to some of Japan's most talented animators and storytellers to breathe new life into the world they created. A real full-circle moment that reminds me of how absurdly cool and imaginative people can be, and what they can achieve when they collaborate.
